So Rovio has release a very innovative advent calendar in the form of an Angry Birds Christmas special ravishing millions of fans across the globe, but what’s hidden behind the format of this release?

To enforce the advent calendar principal of one level per day, the game requires an internet connection, so forget playing your favourite game on a plane or on the tube…

But one interesting feature is that the game requires a Game Center account. Take the example of a family with 4 iDevices, 4 Game Center accounts and 1 AppStore account. There will be 1 purchase of the game distributed across 4 devices but access to the Rovio servers from 4 different devices and 4 different Game Center account. How are Rovio and Apple going to deal with this? Are we going to have to purchase a version of the game for every game center account even if under one iTunes account?

No one knows but this release of Angry Birds will surely act as a “Big Brother” for Apple and developers and will generate some interesting discussions on revenues split and even payment mechanism for downloads from now on…

Stay tuned!
